The Stumbling Block

Life has been going all too smoothly, I just had to take that stumble.

The worse part about fainting is getting back up again. The part when your brain is conscious but everything else is paralysed. Like you try to swallow and you just can't. That part where you can't remember what just happened and you're straining to figure out where the hell you are. And it's made worse when you have 20pairs of eyes staring down at you in shock. Ah well as I always say, we all have to get used to my unpredictability :)

I just visited the VJ moblog and I'm saddened at the state it's in. I never believed in the concept anyway, because having a school-based blog totally defeats the point of blogging. This illustrates perfectly how phenomena or trends like these should be left to the natural state of things and should not be controlled, much less recreated by any relevant authority in such an artificial environment.

And to quote a certain someone on the greener pastures across singapore, "Cannot win in studies let them win in blogging lor. Big deal!"
I guess the only big deal is the prize money. Money speaks.

And this leads to the VIP saga. I guess it's a case of imperfect information coupled with the inability to see things from the different perspective. To all those furious about the school wasting money, do you know that MOE gives the schools an exuberant IP budget? And when I say exuberant I really mean in the excesses, but that's just my opinion. To put it simply, it's just like having food rations: Don't use on food then use on what? Bottomline, it's not your school fees they're touching and the money used could not be chanelled anywhere else but for the VIP anyway. That's what I've gathered, correct me if I'm wrong.

And I guess there's this amusing misperception that just because the design company that did the VIP hub also did up the entire school with the same colourful curvacious flavour people unconsciously think the VIP owns it all. And what's so wrong with a school functioning like a company? Singapore's run just like one big organisation anyway, (fortunately not a DOT com) against the other corporations like America Inc. and China Pte Ltd. Pun accidentally intended.

I've come to the conclusion that all things happen for a reason. And unless you see the other side, you'll always be an angry man. But it's so easy to complain isn't it? Quite fun also hor.

Me being a half-half I tend to agree with many people at the same time. Like how I feel the 600000 was justified but not the goldtap, like how I see the meaning in College Day but don't see the need for the average Victorian to find meaning in being there.. and like many many other things.

Ultimately, it's impossible to make everybody happy.
So cheers to whatever makes you happy. Peace :)

About the only people who don't agree with several people at the same time are terrorists. That's y they r called extremists... Actually... I forgot narcissists and xenophobes... no matter... i also tink the blog thing is jus one whole pile of bullsh!t... pardon the expletive... ahem... hogwash :D Well the prize money's gd aniway... it's almost like singapore tryin to break stupid guiness records so that it gets recognised internationally tho.

The VIP thing... i dun kno y ppl r complaining abt it. It's like the GEP saga all over again. Yes i hear u ppl... u can say tt i wuz in the GEP n therefore do not share the view of the express/normal ppl that we r beta treated etc. But... Singapore's a meritocratic (aka semi-elitist, but it jus so happens that singapore n jus abt everywhere else is at least 99% elitist) society n if u can't make it, too bad. That's life. (Isn't that why life sux anyway)

Digressing a little... I dun realli kno y the vip program stops ppl fr takin the 'o' lvls... that basically means that if they screw up rite at the end ('a' levels or wateva)... they die horribly wif oni their beautifully laminated n repeatedly kissed PSLE certs (which doesn't even serve well as toilet paper and doesn't taste very good either... presumably).
