An ode to Google

http://gmail-is-too-creepy.com/
The URL speaks for itself. We'd have to start emailing each other in morse codes or maybe write sdrawkcab like this to sly the system lol.

So it seems as though Google has literally joined the dark side with its plan of world domination with Google Talk which is really quite disappointing and much much more to come...

Or perhaps you could just quench your thirst for knowledge with Google Gulp as a signal of defeat.

Oh and on another note, do watch this trailer for March of the Penguins (that I found on google, just to fit the theme) because it's just as good as watching the movie. In fact, it's such a steal it's even better than the real thing. Oh how i pamper all of you :)

The Missing Link

Talk about futiliy. Talk about GP.
Talk about how I didn't answer the damned question.

And with that my resolution for online abstinence comes to naught.
Hi I'm back.

I'm unconsciously binging to the point of ad nauseam. Worse when it only sets in after that occasional glass of water and the iceberg begins to tip. Maybe it's just making way for Titanic. Should we all jump?

All my dreams recently have had me being admonished by someone or another, over the most frivolous things I can't even remember. It gets all the more scarier when they're chiding you over the very things you want to hide from them. Call it hypocrisy or whatever I believe everyone lives behind a mask. At this time however I guess there's some interesting internal civil war going on in me. The battling of the cells hahaha.

And with regards to sheralyn's feministic comment, I guess it's about beating the statistics. Guys cannot win All the timeee :) If there were to be the occasional anomaly why not you!

It's no more only prelims. It's prelims. I'm getting the blues!

It's the beginning of the end.

Petrified

Finally! The Teaser Trailer is out for Sayuri (Memoirs of a Geisha) and I'm dying to catch it! Looks pretty cool except for the voiceovers which sound a wee bit too forced. Haha i liked that stare. Haven't been to a movie in agesss.

GP prelims on monday! I'm spending my entire weekend out of the house and may well end up visiting the night safari for a last minute midnight kick. I need to rest my mind and breathe. To go in the next morning with a fresh and happy brain that's hopefully not empty by then. Ha call me crazy or whatever you like.

I think I've been petrified lately. Too afraid of the impending doom to do anything about it. I need to get over this state.. this trance.

What's the counter-charm? Where's Harrypotter?

Guten Tag!

eins, zwei, drei, vier, fünf, sechs, sieben, acht, neun, zehn

Languages are fun!

I just picked up some conversational german from these great websites with audio samples. Adding to my collection of 1- 10 in english chinese malay hokkien thai and japanese I now have german! It's been a long time. And speaking of japanese I found a lame animation that teaches you to count in Jap. It's always the Japs huh :)

Oh distractions distractions.

I seem to be awake at all the wrong hours.

There's absolutely not a soul online lol.

Ohya and I saw this stall advertising their 100% Mackerel Otah in big angry capitals that I found rather amusing. Doesn't 100% mackerel mean I should get a whole mackerel fish under those banana leaves?

Accountability

So many people I have to answer to.

Dreamer

I'm a dreamer.

I look at people around me pursuing their passion in music or sports and getting mentioned at rallies or going all out securing scholarships and placements everywhere else in the world and winning competitions and getting asteriods named after them and then I wonder what the heck I am doing.

Of all the things that Elim Chew had ever said I forgot the one about ability, until I met her yet again at the Scape focus group where she said it the second time. Abilities only become better the more they are being used. It feels as if I have lost the ability to study. It's nauseating just stuffing ourselves. I want to get on with life. I want to experiment.

But that's just the way things are.

I'm going to watch apprentice.

Students' Sketch Pad

Check out the latest comic on The Students' Sketch Pad. Love the way they take a dig at education and the blogging community lol.

The power to change

For all the brouhaha, what makes them think that girls would want to join VS in the first place? Let's not pick on the nittygritty like the lack of toilets for one. Ah the world's going INSANE. First with dunmanhighJC and the move and the syllabus and now this, looks like everybody's turning suicidal. The greater depression anyone?

I picked up this phrase while reading into Foucault's model of power:

Where there is power there is resistance.

It seemed all so lucid that obviously when people have the power to effect change there almost always comes resistance (with the except of Singapore ha). But soon my mind subconsciously deviated into this whole realm of physics where it actually made a lot of sense too, that a load has to be present for energy disspation in a circuit and hence where there is power there is resistance! Oh what a stroke of genius, I'm feeling like John Nash :)

Or maybe not. I'm just going crazy.

How can there be time

One entry from the Singapore Writer's Fest [100-word epic challenge]:

"How can there be time to write a story when we’re all too busy stirring waking sitting standing waddling stumbling-to-the-bathroom groping scratching yawning peeing wiping brushing shaving showering wondering-what-to-wear-today? Dressing eating leaving running missing cursing waiting waiting waiting boarding smelling getting-off-and-rushing (again) squeezing sitting reading sleeping ignoring-old-ladies-and-mums-to-be. Walking jaywalking greeting emailing working slacking surfing snacking calling eating sweating cooling slacking working snacking surfing hanging-out-by-the-cooler slacking leaving meeting waving smiling-hello-dear-how-was-your-day? Strolling eating chatting drinking laughing smiling paying adjourning entering kissing cuddling petting sucking watching moaning gasping pretending screaming pretending kissing turniing drifting drifting dreaming how there can be any time to"

Love

The most spectacular, indescribable, deep euphoric feeling for someone.

Love is an incredibly powerful word. When you're in love, you always want to be together, and when you're not, you're thinking about being together because you need that person and without them your life is incomplete.

This love is unconditional affection with no limits or conditions: completely loving someone. It's when you trust the other with your life and when you would do anything for each other. When you love someone you want nothing more than for them to be truly happy no matter what it takes because that's how much you care about them and because their needs come before your own. You hide nothing of yourself and can tell the other anything because you know they accept you just the way you are and vice versa.

It's when they're the last thing you think about before you go to sleep and when they're the first thing you think of when you wake up, the feeling that warms your heart and leaves you overcome by a feeling of serenity. Love involves wanting to show your affection and/or devotion to each other. It's the smile on your face you get when you're thinking about them and miss them.

Love can make you do anything and sacrifice for what will be better in the end. Love is intense, and passionate. Everything seems brighter, happier and more wonderful when you're in love. If you find it, don't let it go. One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life: That word is love.

- Sophocles

Ruthlessly ripped from sheralyn's blog.

I want to be in love with my academia too :)

Sleep Tight

i think the reason why they say sleep tight is bcos sometimes when yu sleep your mind feels as if it's drifting in a million directions at once. so yu say sleep tight so that yu keep your thoughts and your mind close to yu when yu sleep so they dont run all over the place and yu dont hafta go catch them before yu wake up and end up even more exhausted than when yu went to bed. sleep tight - wrap yourself up in a cocoon, don't spread yourself too thin and don't lose yourself in your dreams.

I love shermaine's way of thinking :)

The Stumbling Block

Life has been going all too smoothly, I just had to take that stumble.

The worse part about fainting is getting back up again. The part when your brain is conscious but everything else is paralysed. Like you try to swallow and you just can't. That part where you can't remember what just happened and you're straining to figure out where the hell you are. And it's made worse when you have 20pairs of eyes staring down at you in shock. Ah well as I always say, we all have to get used to my unpredictability :)

I just visited the VJ moblog and I'm saddened at the state it's in. I never believed in the concept anyway, because having a school-based blog totally defeats the point of blogging. This illustrates perfectly how phenomena or trends like these should be left to the natural state of things and should not be controlled, much less recreated by any relevant authority in such an artificial environment.

And to quote a certain someone on the greener pastures across singapore, "Cannot win in studies let them win in blogging lor. Big deal!"
I guess the only big deal is the prize money. Money speaks.

And this leads to the VIP saga. I guess it's a case of imperfect information coupled with the inability to see things from the different perspective. To all those furious about the school wasting money, do you know that MOE gives the schools an exuberant IP budget? And when I say exuberant I really mean in the excesses, but that's just my opinion. To put it simply, it's just like having food rations: Don't use on food then use on what? Bottomline, it's not your school fees they're touching and the money used could not be chanelled anywhere else but for the VIP anyway. That's what I've gathered, correct me if I'm wrong.

And I guess there's this amusing misperception that just because the design company that did the VIP hub also did up the entire school with the same colourful curvacious flavour people unconsciously think the VIP owns it all. And what's so wrong with a school functioning like a company? Singapore's run just like one big organisation anyway, (fortunately not a DOT com) against the other corporations like America Inc. and China Pte Ltd. Pun accidentally intended.

I've come to the conclusion that all things happen for a reason. And unless you see the other side, you'll always be an angry man. But it's so easy to complain isn't it? Quite fun also hor.

Me being a half-half I tend to agree with many people at the same time. Like how I feel the 600000 was justified but not the goldtap, like how I see the meaning in College Day but don't see the need for the average Victorian to find meaning in being there.. and like many many other things.

Ultimately, it's impossible to make everybody happy.
So cheers to whatever makes you happy. Peace :)

Well the tortoise won.
The tortoise always wins anyway :)

Crazy

It pays you know.

I wish someone could diagnose me crazy so I could skip school for the rest of the year. Goodbye.

Croak

Tis' no good, the fact that the more I try to study the more I end up munching and then I get so full and bloated I end up sleeping all my time away.

By the time Prelims are here I'll be like a bullfrog.

Goodie Grabbing

Just two photos to sum up my National Day Parade Preview experience.

Did you really think the second photo was real? Nah, it's mega modified - I did a blend of three photos and it actually turned out quite good :) Lol the deception. Hard to trust photos nowadays aye.

It was a good day of goodie grabbing, from the career fair in the morning all the way to NDP at night. The free gifts nowadays are quite hightech come to think about it. There's also this sort of pen warfare going on with almost everybody giving free pens. But who's complaining.

And we had a very interesting talk. 6 years dude :)

Ah I hate being confused.
